November 17th - What to call this?
My days are very mundane but I am enjoying my time here. I'm using this time in Shanghai to develop my strength while trying to maintain the flexibility and agility that I gained at the Kung Fu School. The mundane part of my days is my fault because of my procrastination and laziness that I've developed.
Just writing this blog has been difficult because I don't have much to write about. I could write about what I do everyday for weight lifting/power training but that isn't very interesting (and I do that on my Instagram story). I could write about how my weekend was spent walking around Qi Bao at night eating burgers but there really isn't much to that story either.
Still trying to figure out what to do.
The Burger was really good though, Krusta's Burger in Shanghai. |
Before I went to the Kung Fu School there was a review I read that said something along the lines of, "Going to the Kung Fu School is a lot like college, you learn so much and challenge yourself while you're there but after you're left with the question of, 'What do I do with it?'". I think that is the feeling that I'm having at the moment. This is why I feel so motivated to keep my power training going because its new and a challenge where as I'm not too sure what to do with my Kung Fu that I've learned. Shoot, I've even remembered some BJJ moves from watching my girlfriend's class just to keep an open mind.
I dunno, I just feel like I'm in a bit of a limbo. What I'd love to do is go back to a martial arts school with other students and get to training again. This won't happen because of the current global situation so I'm making due with solo training. In the back of my head, I still have plans to go to a Muay Thai/MMA gym to get more "combative training" then go to a few Kung Fu Schools to pursue the art that I love.
Are you sure you want to do that?
Yea. Pursuing the mastery of martial arts sounds way cooler than I don't know what to do with my life. I could give 100s of reasons as to why I want to go to these Kung Fu Schools or go to Muay Thai/MMA Schools. The real reason is that I want to stay busy and challenge myself while doing something that I love instead of working in a printing press or potato factory.
I may not make money through my blog or through these travels but at least I'm doing things that I really enjoy.
Today is leg day. I'm going to train.
Hope you're having a good week.
You will figure out what you want to do in life and that does not have to include working manual labor in a factory. For what you want to do in life I still suggest some type of teaching you could always teach the language since you are getting very good with it. Then you could travel during the off school days or maybe even teach via online considering how things are going right now which means living anywhere you choose. :D Love you and miss you. <3 Mom
